Remembrance Day Community Support
As Remembrance Day approaches, we are reminded of the moral and physical sacrifices made by others so that we have abilities to play, build friendships, and enjoy activities with our friends and families. To commemorate and honor those sacrifices, a U19 Rattlers community support food drive event has been planned in conjunction with our games on the eve of Remembrance Day.
The Lethbridge Veterans Food Bank has been in operation since November of 2023, and offer food, funding, support and programs for local veterans and their families. They are in dire need of restocking their warehouse, and we are hopeful our Lethbridge U19 Rattlers and families can help. They are in particular need of the following items:
- canned milk
- pancake mix
- flour
- sugar
- rice
- canned chili
- canned meat (ham, chicken, turkey, tuna, salmon, etc.)
- canned potatoes
- instant potatoes
- broth (beef, chicken, vegetable, etc.)
If you are able to contribute to the food drive, please bring your items to Sunday's game (Sun. Nov. 10, 2024, 2:00 PM Henderson Ice Arena). We will gather and sort items in the parking lot post game for transport to the Veterans Food Bank. We have also reached out to the South Calgary coaching team, and are hopeful they are able to join us in this community food drive event.
